Why don't we take "Time Out for Me"?
Why don't we take "Time Out For Me"?
To many of us in this fast paced life that we lead, taking time out solely for ourself, our health and wellbeing, seems somewhat alien. We spend most of our time, work, work, work, our foot on the accelerator, worrying about work, worrying and caring for our family, worrying about finances, not feeling good enough about ourselves, afraid that maybe we can't cope but knowing that we have to, etc etc
We are so self driven, feeling that we have to be invincible and be able to constantly be in control and cope with all that life throws our way. We often feel guilty if we find ourselves thinking about 'ourselves' and 'our needs'. We often feel 'failures' if we feel that we cannot cope, even though some of us are trying to cope with the impossible.
Many of us are living with stress levels the highest which they have ever been. In the ancient times of our ancestors, the 'fight or flight' response was how we had to live. That is exactly what it was and it was short lived it came to an end. We were cavemen, the hunter gatherer's looking for our next meal, yes we had fear when being chased by animals and fearing for our lives, but the moment did pass and all became calm until the next time. Our adrenal glands pumped out the much needed adrenaline to help us cope and when the event was over the levels were returned to normal and the body returned to homeostasis, this is how our bodies were designed to cope.
In our current climate the stress doesn't end, the high levels of adrenaline that we pump out, stay raised as the stress doesn't stop, we keep pumping out the adrenaline and so the viscous cycle perpetuates. Our bodies weren't designed to cope with these constant, unremitting levels of stress and the constant high levels of adrenaline. The human body wasn't designed to function under such conditions. It is then, when the body and mind becomes exhausted, as it cannot cope any longer and this is when health problems, both physical and mental begin to occur.
Speaking from experience, let go of the guilt, value yourself, if you can be healthy and remain healthy both physically and mentally, just think how much better you will be able to function and cope, with all that life throws your way.
I speak with such great passion as this is straight from my heart, this was me, Mrs Resilient who hadn't realised that actually she wasn't, she was just human after all. It is exactly the position which I found myself in - 'due to life' - and I was on the verge of a mental and physical breakdown. Thank goodness that I turned to alternative healing, my life was transformed and at last I could see a light at the end of a very long tunnel. Once I had experienced that feeling I knew that I would never let it go.
I have never let it go and over the years, 'despite life', have continued to be constantly aware of the need for 'time out' and the need for 'healing'. Even when it hasn't been possible, just focusing on the intention positively has been of a great help.
So, that's where it brings me today, the passion for people and healing resides within my core and my heart. It's been there since I was a child and I know that it will be there for the rest of my days. I have always thought "if I can help just that one person, then my life is worthwhile". That theme has run throughout my life and thankfully the feedback has been good. My passion and beliefs are so strong and I know that they always will be.
You can literally "stop the world and get off" for an hour. This time is solely for you, to reach that profoundly deep level of relaxation, which has to be experienced to be believed. It is then that the human body and mind as great as it is, gets the chance to begin to heal itself.
